Kristin Matwiczyk and I met in 2007-ish while working at a restaurant in Raleigh, NC. She was my trusty traveling companion when I made the move to NYC. And she is a lovely painter/puppet-maker/all-around artist whose sensibility often matches my own.
I have turned several of her smaller works into embroidery transfers. I constantly send her weird text messages like, "Can you draw a set of 3 Matryoshka dolls?" Or, "How about a bunch of angry squirrels?" "Can you design like a pig or a dog or something that could be made from fleece?" "I need something Zen-ish to embroider on a yoga mat bag." And within days a sketch will appear in my inbox.
She's kind of amazing.
